Dwain Chambers, a top British and world-class athlete is in The Gambia as guest of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Council and the Gambia Athletics Association (GAA).
Chambers who arrived in Banjul on Friday on a five-day visit in the country will hold a series of training sessions with Gambian athletes.
Speaking in an interview with Pointsport on Saturday, Dwain Chamber said his mission to the country is to share his experiences with Gambian athletes, and to build their capacity on the new techniques in athletics.
He stated that 40sprinters including male and female would participate in both morning and afternoon training sessions, and will be divided into groups, in order to conduct the session properly.
For his part, the Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council (NYC), Alieu Cham urged the Gambian athletes to make good use of Dwain's stay and learn from his experience, noting that it will help them improve in their future competition.
On behalf of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, he thanked Dwain for coming to The Gambia to share his knowledge with athletes.
Dodou Joof CAPI's Secretary-General of the Gambia Athletics Association, said the coming of Dwain is timely, adding that GAA will continue to work with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to improve the capacity of athletes in the country.
Chambers has achieved a lot in the field of athletics, such as Number 1 in Britain, Number1 in Europe, and 6th place at the 2009 World Championship, among others.
