The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) will launch a Thank-You Small Library Project at the Olympafrica Centre in Serekunda East, Pointsports was reliably informed by the GNOC president Alhajie Momodou Dibba, in an interview at the GNOC’s office yesterday.
He said: “I am very pleased to work with my executive not only to concentrate on the associations but also to help in doing what we can in terms of education, in terms of giving experiences and opportunities to people and I think this Small Library Project is one of the very few activities that we are inaugurating tomorrow.
“We are hoping that this project, sponsored by the Step Foundation, will be replicated in other parts of the country.”
He said further: “Since 2007, we have built about 110 Libraries; now with this two, one in the GNOC Resource Centre and the other at the Olympafrica Centre at Serekunda East, it would be about 112 and we hope we will be able to convince our collaborators, our friends to replicate this project in all parts of the country,”
Dibba, who profoundly commended Step Foundation for what he called their wonderful support towards the establishment of the Thank-You Small Library project, was also full of praises for Beatrice Allen, 1st vice president of the GNOC and also Gambia’s IOC member.
Ms Allen, he noted, was the driving force in bringing into fruition the library project.
