According to a press release from Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (GSIC), Eid ul Adha, commonly known as Tobaski, will be observed on 4 October 2014.
The Council and the Imam Ratib of Banjul would like to inform the general public that yesterday the 25th day of September 2014 was the first day of Zur hija, the 12th month in the Islamic calendar.
The release states that Friday the third day of October 2014, will be Arafat day.
“Muslims,” the release states, “are therefore reminded that it is important to fast on that day, as it was mentioned by the beloved Prophet (PBUH).
It also states that, “Saturday the 4th of October 2014, will be the day of Eid ul Adha, locally known as Tobaski.”
“The council,” it further states, “wishes His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh, Nasirudeen Babili Mansa, his government and the entire Muslim Ummah in The Gambia a blessed Tobaski.”
