Tigers FC on Tuesday evening defeated Kanifing Estate FC by 2-0 to secure a quarterfinal place in the ongoing Serrekunda West Sports Organisation (SWESO) Nawetan competition played at the West Park.
Both teams came into the game with the hope of collecting all the vital three points as they both created series of goal-scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize on their chances thus the first half ended 0-0.
Lamin Conteh gave Tigers FC the lead in the 45th minute of the game while Mustapha Jasseh sealed the victory for Tigers FC in the 82nd minute.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, Lamin Ceesay, head coach of Kanifing Estate FC, said he was disappointed with his players, noting that they should have won the game and qualified for the next stage of the competition.
He stated that Tigers FC deserve to win the game because of their excellent performance in the match.
Basiru Sanneh, head coach of Tigers FC, said: “We were happy with the win, as we really prepared for the game.”
He also thanked the fans of the team for their support.
