Three Arrested in Senegal for Car Theft in Gambia

The car reportedly stolen from the Gambia and taken to Ziguinchor in neighbouring Senegal has been recovered, while the three suspects in the theft are said to be under the custody of the Senegalese authorities, this paper has been informed.

Sheriff Jallow and Amadou Jallow, who are of the same parents, and Lamin Drammeh Sowe, their nephew, are in the custody of the Senegalese authorities awaiting trial. The fourth suspect, known as Maitre, is said to be on the run.

The Mercedes Benz 190 with registration number: BJL 7728 E, was impounded by the Senegalese security, following reports that it was seized from the driver by some unknown elements who drove off with it to Senegal on 28th June 2008.

According to the driver, Alagie Sabally, these bandits found him around a petrol station with the car in Brikama and approached him to hire the vehicle to Manduar village, few kilometres from Brikama at around 10:30pm. And upon reaching the bushes in Manduar, he said, all the money with him was forcefully taken from him before they tied him up and beat him seriously.

He claimed that they even attempted to bury him, but he managed to escape.
