Threatening violence case proceeds

The alleged criminal trial of threatening violence involving one Matarr Drammeh proceeded recently at the Brikama Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Edward Singhateh.

Testifying for the prosecution, Morro Jaiteh told the court that the accused was his employee and on 7 March 2011, he assigned the accused to do some work but he refused.

He said it was then that he asked the accused to leave the work, adding that the accused also demanded for the money he had worked for.

According to him, he paid the accused, stating that before the accused left, he (the accused) threatened to kill him.

Still testifying, he said that few days later, he met the accused and he greeted him, but the accused refused to answer.

He added that some days later he received a telephone call from one Omar Barry, who informed him that the accused was standing on the highway with a knife waiting for him.

The case was at that juncture adjourned till 20 June 2011.
