The criminal trial for allegedly threatening violence and assault involving one Lamin Drammeh continued recently at the Brikama Magistrates' Court.

Testifying under cross -examination, the first prosecution witness (PW1), Kebba Drammeh of Brending village, told the court that he was not aware that the land he was claiming was the subject of a dispute at the high court between the family of Jammeh-kunda and Sanyang -kunda.

Counsel put it to him that the land he was claiming ownership of cannot be his own, because the person who gave the land to his father is the alkalo (village head), who had no title deed. The witness, however, disagreed.

Counsel also told the witness that the gun he (PW1) mentioned in his statement, and that the accused person threatened him with it, and handcuffed, was all not true because the accused is an NDEA officer, and uses the gun and handcuffs for drug peddlers.

The witness in response said he did not know the accused person's job, but on that day there was no drug peddler on the said plot of land.

The case was adjourned to 21st September 2010 for continuation.
