The 2009 Gambia Tennis Association close tournament organised by the president of the Gambia Tennis Association, Sheriff Jammeh ended on Saturday at the independence stadium in Bakau.
In the men's singles final, Maciano Ca who had been unbeaten in the tournament emerged the champions, following an outstanding 6-3,6-4 victory over fellow finalist Basuruwa Conteh who defeated Yankuba Drammeh in the men's single semi final on Wednesday.
The men's doubles final saw outstanding Maciano Ca and Basuruwa Conteh defeating Bala Suso and Seedy Bojang by 6-3,6-1 which earned them the men's doubles trophy and a cheque for D750.
Meanwhile the Ladies category final has also produced a fascinating encounter when Lala Sallah defeated Fatou Saidy by 6-2, 6-1 to be crowned the champion.
Lala received a cheque for D1, 000 while Fatou Saidy the runner up went home with a cheque for D500.
