Tennis number one seeks assistance

The Gambia Lawn Tennis Association's influential tennis star, Basuruwa Conteh who is looking set to represent the tennis association for the up-coming tennis championship, organised by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in Senegal, Dakar, slated for February is in dire need of assistance to realise his dream.

Conteh who is undoubtedly the number one tennis player in the country is expected to be among tennis stars worldwide to participate in the Price Money Tennis Competition in Dakar, aimed at helping tennis stars to be exposed to international standards.

The young Gambian tennis player who spoke to Pointsport in this interview at his residence in Bakau Newtown yesterday disclosed that his invitation to attend the championship came at a time when he caught the eyes of former Senegalese tennis number one Abou Bertheh, whom he noted has since become his great admirer during a tennis championship in Dakar, sometime ago.

Basuruwa who had succeeded in achieving a lot of glories for The Gambia in different tennis championships internationally is facing a huge financial problem, ahead of the high-profile tennis championship.

"I am badly in need of assistance to undergo the Price Money Tennis Championship in Dakar in February, but I am finding things difficult in terms of the sponsorship," the soft spoken young tennis star told our reporter.
