Team Choi Taekwondo Club stage 4th Taekwondo promotional test

An energetic classic belt grading was organised by team Choi Taekwondo club recently at the B.O Semega Janneh, at Serrekunda East Football Park.

According to the Chief Instructor of the Taekwondo Club, Mater Basiru Choi, 17 students took part in this grading and moved to different ranks from 8 Cap Yellow Belt inferior to 3 Cap Blue Belt Superior, respectively.

The students were tested one month prior to the schedule date, in line with the standards of the Kukkiwon and the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF). We made it open to show transparency and let the people know that the club is in line with standards, said Master Choi.

The grading is a promotional test that assesses students that have been intensively pursuing their four-month technical TKD trainings.

These regulations also provide the procedures of carrying out all levels of tests in accordance with the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters), which is aimed at spreading the rationalised Taekwondo techniques and standardising its practice in The Gambia.

He pointed out that this is what The Gambia needs, if they want to rub their shoulders with outside world in all aspects of Martial arts, particularly Taekwondo (TKD).

The practical promotional techniques test dealt with Poomse (Forms), Kyorugi (Sparring), Kyokpa (Breaking) Power Check and Special Techniques.

The Programme Officer of Martial arts in SEDO, Mr. Njie further elaborated that this activity is in line with his committee's dreams to diversify and promote sports in the Serrekunda East Zone and The Gambia as a whole.

He thanked the President of the committee and his executive for their unflagging and moral support in the development of multi-sports in Serrekunda East.

The programme ended with issuing of certificate of achievements to the students by the executive committee of SESDO.
