Safeway/Asia XI beat Jewel of India in the third weekend encounter of the TATA Safari Motors Cricket T-20 sponsored trophy of the Gambia Cricket Association.
In a closed and tight fielding Safeway scored 144 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs .The highest batsman was Amrith with 23 runs, while Jimmy Sabsten bowled 4 overs and took 4 wickets for 10 runs .
The 2009 cricket champions, Jewel of India batted next in the second inning and were able to make 124 runs for all out in their allotted 20 overs. Nickey batted and scored 35 runs, while Ajwet took 4 wickets in 3 overs for 27 runs. Safeway/ Asia XI won by 20 runs.
The man of the match was Jimmy who scored in 4 overs 4 wickets 10 runs.
In the current standings, Wallidan, Jewel of India and Safeway/Asia XI are each on three points.
GPA and the Veterans are the two causalities of the tournament after failing to register a win in the knock-out championship.
Wallidan will now meet Jewel of India on Sunday at the MRC grounds, and the winner of the two will meet Safeway /Asia XI.
