Super Nawettan quarterfinal duel set for weekends

The 2016 Super Nawettan zonal football tournament quarterfinal matches are set for this weekend across three venues: Serrekunda East, West and Manjai respectively.

As part of the quarterfinal matches, tomorrow, Saturday 22 October 2016, Brikama will play against Gunjur in the all-West Coast Region derby clash at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Brikama finished top spot in group A with 9 points in five games and are also unbeaten in the 2016 FIBank-sponsored supernawettan.

The Sateyba boys will be fighting to beat Gunjur to progress to the semifinal as well as keep their chances of winning their second Super Nawettan title since clinching their first-ever Super Nawettan title in 2012 after beating Bakau 3-2 in the final game played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Gunjur finished third in group B with 7 points in five games and will be striving to defeat Brikama to advance to the semifinal as well as keep their hopes of landing their first-ever Super Nawettan title.

Elsewhere, BEM will clash with Banjul in the other quarterfinal fixtures at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium on the same day.

BEM finished second in their group with 8 points in five outings, and will be coming all out to smash Banjul to sail to the semifinal.

Banjul finished fourth in their group with 7 points in five games and are also unbeaten in the 2016 FIBank-sponsored Super Nawettan.

The City boys will be eyeing to pound BEM to advance to the semifinal and also increase their chances of ending their trophy drought.

On Sunday 23 October 2016, Sukuta will take on Manjai at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Sukuta finished top spot in their group with 8 points in five matches, and will be targeting to beat Manjai to sail to the semifinal.

Manjai finished third in group A with 7 points in five games, and aim to defeat Sukuta to progress to the semifinal.

Elsewhere, Serrekunda East will host Serrekunda West in the all-Serrekunda derby at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda on the same day.

Serrekunda East finished second in group B with 7 points in five matches and are also unbeaten. They will be stunning for a win against Serrekunda West to reach the semifinal.

Serrekunda West finished fourth in group A with 7 points in five games, and will be contending to beat Serrekunda East to sail to the semifinal as well as keep their hopes of retaining their 2015 Super Nawettan crown.
