The economic crime case involving former Works Minister Ousman Badjie yesterday suffered another setback, due to the lateness of the state witness, before Justice Abi of the Banjul High Court.

When the case was called, A.M. Yusuph representing the state told the court that his witness was stuck in traffic and, as a result, he was seeking an adjournment.

However, defence Counsel LS Camara objected and said instead of an adjournment they could stand down the case to enable him cross-examined PW1.

The matter was then stood down for 30 minutes, but the 30 minutes was exhausted before the witness could arrive in court.

Both counsel then went into chambers to adjourn the case.

The case continues today.
