As Fatou Mbye Memorial Tourney Fixtures Released


The annual proposed football tournament organised by the Sports Journalists Association of the Gambia is set to kick-off on Friday 19th February, in two different venues such as Serrekunda-East and West Mini-stadiums.
The Sports Journalists team under the leadership of Coach Dodou Bojang will begin the preparatory programme later today with a good number of determined and energetic players, who are looking set to make names for themselves when the 8-team tournament gets underway on Friday. 
The highly-anticipated first-ever tournament to be staged by the country's biggest sports body which is expected to bring together all stakeholders across the country will be played between Eight (8) teams namely, the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Kanifing Municipal Council, Gambia Football Coaches Association, Youth Ambassador of Peace, Jam City Female Football Club, Interior Female Football Club and Abuko United Female Football Club.

The much-talked about fixtures which was released by the organising committee of the tournament on Friday will see Jam City rubbing shoulders with KMC in the female category as part of the opener, scheduled to take place at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium at 3pm, while another female match will also take centre stage when Abuko United kick-off the campaign with a match against Interior that won the Female league championship last season with both matches, starting at 3pm on 19th February.

Meanwhile, the fixtures in the male category, which is expected to produce another mouth-watering encounters at the Serrekunda East and West Mini-stadiums will witness two matches when Gambia Football Coaches Association entertain Youth Ambassadors Of Peace, while Sports Journalists Association of the Gambia will lock horns with ambitious Ministry of Youth and Sports, at 5pm at East-park.

The tournament will continue on 26th February when two winners from each category will meet in the final to wrap-up the tournament which will be staged in honour of our dear colleague Fatou B.K Mbye, who spent all her life in the development and promotion of sports she admired throughout her life.
