Students of Regions 2 and 4 from Dumbuto village in Kiang West District, Lower River Region, recently benefited from a sponsorship package valued at over D80,000.
Speaking to The Point after presenting the sponsorship funds to the parents and guardians of the beneficiaries, the Secretary General of Woodbury Salterton/Dumbuto Link Committee, Lamin A.S. Woodbury Salterton/Dumbuto relationship started since 1988, he said, adding that the handing over ceremony for the sponsorship package took place at Dumbuto Lower Basic School. "The money was directly disbursed to the custodians of the students," he added.
Mr Jammeh also said that after receiving the funds, speakers upon speakers commended Woodbury Salterton villagers in the UK for their magnanimity, saying their support to The Gambia would continue to do a lot of good for the future leaders of the country.
"Woodbury Salterton villagers also paid to the administration of Dumbuto Lower Basic School, the 2010/2011 year school development fund for all the students attending the school," he said.
He said Imam Alhagie Jafanka Darboe and Alkalo Ansumana Colley, both of Dumbuto village, are highly appreciative of the good relationship that exists between Dumbuto village and Woodbury Salterton 'villagers'.
The handing over ceremony was chaired by the chairman of Woodbury/Dumbuto Link Committee, Lang K. Darboe, while Lang C. Darboe, a school committee member, gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries.
