The
Government of Spain congratulates the authorities and people of Gambia on the
peaceful way in which the elections unfolded in the country.
The
Independent Electoral Commission of Gambia declared the independent candidate,
Adama Barrow, as the winner and President Yahya Jammeh accepted the results and
congratulated the winner.
The
Government of Spain underlines the value of the commitment shown by all the
parties to this democratic process, and urges them to continue down this chosen
path in exercise of democracy and respect of the rule of law.
