President Yahya Jammeh yesterday relieved Ousman Sonko of his recent appointment in his new Cabinet as Minister of the Interior, and redeployed him to the country’s diplomatic services as Gambia’s new ambassador to Spain.

He replaced Kebba S. Touray who was recently appointed the new Minister of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment.

The removal of Ousman Sonko from the cabinet, a week today after his re-appointment to the Interior ministry, leaves more vacant ministerial positions yet to be filled in Jammeh’s new cabinet.

These are the ministries of Interior, Justice, Local Government and Lands, Youth and Sports, Information and Communication Infrastructure.

The ministries of Works, Agriculture and Energy have in the previous government been overseen by the Office of the President.
