Defending league champions Soccer United FC of Kitty made a remarkable recovery from a goal down to maintain a pulsating 1-1 draw against Bantaba FC of Kassa Kunda at the weekend.
The titanic encounter of the Noran tournament sponsored by Kitty Youth and Sports Committee, produced some exciting moments of football at the Wembley playground.
The match saw the visitors Bantaba FC open the scoring when Hammeh Sabally fired his side ahead with a brilliant close range opener at only 12 minutes on the clock.
The visitors continued to dictate the tempo of the game for the better part of what appeared to be a pulsating match under the watchful eyes of Lamin King Colley, GFA’s second vice-president, but the team could not make gainful results due to some poor finishing.
But upon resumption, Soccer United’s coach Oppa Saidy and his charges, who failed to deliver in the first period, responded with a fine equalizer thanks to a fantastic strike by Fakebba Janneh in the 56th minute, to the delight of an impressive attendance at the Wembley Stadium.
Earlier in the day, Mauritany beat Promiseland FC 1-nil as part of the opening game of the junior tournament at the same football field.
The tournament, according to officials, is organised to foster relationship among youths of the community.
