Sifoe are through to the semi-final of the ongoing West Coast Region third division qualifiers following their hard-fought 1-0 win over Foni Kansala in group B at the Sifoe Football Field on Friday.
Sifoe, who beat Brufut 2-1 in their opening group A game a fortnight ago, need only a draw to secure a place in the semi-final.
Foni Kansala, who lost to Brufut 3-1 in their opening group A fortnight ago, need a massive victory against Sifoe to progress to the semi-final but were reluctant to break through Sifoe’s formidable defence line.
Sifoe, on the other hand, were superb in the game and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities but managed to score one goal courtesy of Bekai Bojang’s 66th minute strike to earn Sifoe a place in the semi-final.
Foni Kansala and Brufut are all out of the qualifiers after finishing second from bottom and bottom of the group respectively.
Meanwhile, the Gunjur-against-Banjulinding game in group C at the Sanna Jatta’s Memorial Football Field in Lamin was called off due to referees’ failure to turn up for the match.
