The Sierra Leone Beauty Pageant 2012, an annual event being conducted in The Gambia, will take place on June 16, 2012 at the former Jerma Beach Hotel in Kololi, officials of the organizing committee have told Point Entertainment.
In a brief chat with Entertainment, the organizing committee chairman, Gifted, said preparations to staging the beauty extravaganza are at advanced stage as the date of the occasion fast approaches.
Thirteen beauty queens are up for the gallery and will parade to display their wonderful and sparkling looks Sierra Leoneans are known for.
Among the beauty crew, Gifted discloses, the most outstanding one will surely carry the day as she will be wearing the first winner crown for this year’s pageantry.
According to chairman Gifted, the beauty pageant is about Sierra Leoneans in The Gambia, especially staged to raise funds for refugees and other humanitarian ventures.
“Last year we did it to help Sierra Leonean kids to celebrate their 8th anniversary in The Gambia,” Gifted said, adding: “This year we are doing it to raise funds to pay the university fee of a Sierra Leonean studying in The Gambia.”
He said further that last year the event was held at Jama Hall of the Kairaba Beach Hotel in Senegambia with over 750 people in attendance.
“We are encouraging everyone to come in their large numbers to attend the event,” the chief organizer reiterated, pointing out that the inspirational event will be very interesting.
He showered praises and profound thanks on Gamcel the national GSM operator, for sponsoring the event, saying: “Gamcel is a company that has come to help the people.”
