SFG donates to schools in NBR, others

As part of their contributions towards the promotion and development of education in The Gambia, School for The Gambia, a charitable organisation based in the Federal Republic of Germany on Tuesday 15th December 2009, donated two 40ft containers of items to schools in the North, Western and Lower River Regions, and Kanifing Municipality.

The items included bicycles, tables, chairs, sewing machines and second hand clothes. The beneficiaries included Lamin, Tabokoto, Brufut, Farafenni, and Kinteh Kunda Jannehya.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at Kinteh Kunda Jannehya Lower Basic School, the Headmaster of Kinteh Kunda Jannehya Lower Basic School, Baram Wadda, applauded the donors for their benevolent gesture, adding that the donated items would really aid them in improving the conditions of the school.

He also assured the donors that the donated items would be properly put to good use.

The Principal Education Officer for Region Three, Sait Saine, commended the donors for complementing government efforts in promoting and developing the education sector. He stated that the donated items would greatly improve the standards of education in The Gambia.

Speaking earlier, the Chief of Lower Badibou District, Alhagie Fafanding Kinteh, expressed appreciation to the donors for such a laudable gesture. He prayed to God to shower his blessings on the donors.

The Secretary of Schools for The Gambia, Susane Bitzer and the Chairman of the organisation, Gerhard Riebock, both stated that the aims and objectives of their organisation are to support poor children in The Gambia in the area of education.

They promised that they would continue to assist many students in the coming years.
