One Seedy
Faye, accused of raping his daughter and causing the death of the newly-born
baby of the victim, could not enter his plea at the special criminal court
before Justice Emmanuel Admadi, on the grounds that he was not legally
represented.
When the accused was first arraigned on three counts of murder, rape and incest, the judge said the accused needed a lawyer, taking into consideration the serious nature of the offences he was alleged to have committed.
The trial judge realised that there was no counsel from legal aid to stand for the accused, and said an arrangement notice would be served on the legal aid agency.
It was alleged that the accused unlawfully caused the death of his daughter’s newly-born baby by strangling the baby.
He was further accused of unlawfully having carnal knowledge of his daughter without her consent.
The case would resume on July 9 for plea-taking.
