Martin Gomez, the President of the Gambia Secondary Schools Sports Association (GSSSA) has rated the just concluded Inter-Schools Athletics Championship held at the Independence Stadium in Bakau as the most successful competition.

He pointed out that this is so, because the committee had capitalised on previous mistakes to ensure that there is maximum fair play during the competition.

"The competition is for school-going children and I am sure that there was no foul play during the competition," Gomez stated responding to a question raised concerning the use of non-school children.

He expressed a strong belief that that the Gambia Athletics Association (GAA) will invite some athletes for a trial.

Gomez, who is also the Principal of Saint Augustine's Senior Secondary School, the winners of the 2010 Inter-Schools Athletics Championship, said "we will continue winning the athletics championship in the coming years because we have a well-qualified Physical Education Teacher."

He thanked Trust Bank Limited, the sponsors of the competition, the Minister of Youths and Sports, the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) for their support.

He also commended Physical Education Teachers of the various schools and their athletes who took part in the championship for their hard work.
