The officials of the Gambia Scrabble Association who are poised to inject a new lease of life into sports that has Attaya vous as it playing centre on Thursday called on the National Sports Council, the body charged with overseeing the affairs of the various sporting bodies to solicit support.
A total of six officials of the Gambia Scrabble Association also re-affirmed their resolve to work very hard in their drive to form a fully-fledged body, saying they want to graduate from vous to clubs.
The Second Vice-Chairman of the interim committee of the National Sports Council, Sheikh Teejan Faye encouraged the officials of the Scrabble Association to register with the National Sports Council, adding that their doors are opened to new and interested clubs who are willing to register with the council.

The President of the week-old Scrabble Association, Alagie Darboe described the game of scrabble as very interesting and educative. He cited improvement of one's spelling skills as one of the benefits of the game. The National Sports Council, Darboe indicated, has given them "the mandate, the execution of which will be backed by the Council's support and blessings".
Mr. Darboe who started playing scrabble since 1978 further seized the opportunity to appeal to well-wishers and philanthropists to come to the rescue of the newly formed Gambia Scrabble Association since they are facing serious financial constraints.
