The National team of The Gambia (Scorpions) was expected to leave Banjul yesterday Sunday 17 March 2013 to Ivory Coast via Niger for a four-day training camp ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against the Elephants of Ivory Coast scheduled for 23 March in Abidjan.

While in Niamey, the Scorpions will continue to train and be engaged in local practice matches to hone their skills ahead of the Ivory Coast clash and to also acclimatize with the general weather conditions.

The team and delegation will then leave Niamey on 21 March for Abidjan where they will finally settle for the much anticipated World Cup qualifier billed for Saturday 23 March 2013 at the Felix Houpheout Boigny Stadium in Abidjan at 17:00hrs.

Media Officer Bakary B. Baldeh has said the Normalisation Committee is asking for the prayers of the general public towards the success of the Scorpions in their World Cup pursuit.
