Scorpions leave for Equatorial Guinea

Three local players and team officials will leave Banjul tonight for Malabo for an international friendly between Scorpions against Equatorial Guinea billed for Saturday March 26, 2011.

Senior national players Musa Camara, Lamin Sarjo Samateh,  Buba Sama accompanied by team Coach Paul Put will flight through Dakar to Casablanca  and to their final destination Malabo on Thursday.

The Gambia Football Association (GFA), according to President Seedy M.B. Kinteh can confirm the participation of 15 foreign based players who will be joining the rest of the team in Equatorial Guinea from their base.

Among the batch are Gambia’s number one and Swedish based goalie Pa Dembo, Danish duo; Randers new signing Tijan Jaiteh and Brondby’s Ousman Jallow, the Nyassi brothers Sainey and Sanna from the United States Major League Soccer.

The friendly is set to enhance the Scorpions’ preparation ahead of their remaining matches in the qualifiers of the African Nations Cup.

The match will be the first preparatory test for the Belgian tactician Paul Putt since the team’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Guinea Bissau in Lisbon, Portugal, two months ago.
