Striker Saikou Ceesay’s 65th minute excellent long-range strike for the 2010 Gunjur league champions Commit FC has kicked out the 2012-2013 knockout champions Nyokoyorr FC from the 2013-2014 Gunjur Nawettan.
The unfortunate demise of Nyokoyorr FC took place in a game played at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field on Sunday.
Nyokoyorr, who lost to Late Dembo FC 1-0 in their second group A encounter and knew that only a win would certainly earn them a place in the quarterfinal, dominated the entire game and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities but fired all of them away.
Commit FC opened the score through striker Saikou Ceesay in the 65th minute of the game from an astonishing strike to give his side the lead, which eventually proved to be the winner for Commit FC and also earned them their second successive victory in the Nawettan.
Described by many football fans in Gunjur as a massive blow, the defeat was Nyokoyorr’s second consecutive loss, which resulted in their early exit from the Nawettan.
In a group D tricky encounter played on Friday, Dabani Electrical Enterprise Limited FC drew goalless with Sunderland FC, while Solifo Investment FC beat cellular boys Gamcel FC in the same group on Thursday.
