As part of promoting the band and taking the Gambian music to higher heights, The Roots Bongo Band plans to continue its musical tour within the greater Banjul area.
Speaking to Point Entertainment on Tuesday at the Roots Bongo Bar and Restaurant in Kololi, Joseph, one of the band members, said the objective of the tour is to promote, improve and develop the Gambian music.
He expressed optimism that the tour will enable the band to build good relationship with Gambian artistes, adding that the band will perform in Banjul on 8 March, London Corner on 12 April, Sukuta on 22 March and Brikama on 26 April. The shows are free, this time, he says.
The band member added that the band will have a festival along with Gambian artistes to celebrate Bob Marley Day at the Tallinding Buffer Zone.
The band performs every Friday live from 8pm to 11 pm, he said, adding that the Roots Bongo Bar and Restaurant prepares both African and European foods.
Joseph said further that it is in their plans to attend international festivals to promote the band, asking all and sundry to visit www.rootsbongo.com for more about the band.
