Robbery case transferred to SCC

Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Bundung Magistrates' Court on 7th September 2010 transferred a robbery case involving Ebrima Jallow and Lamin Sonko to the Special Criminal Court at the high court in Banjul, following the prosecution's application.

According to the prosecuting officer, Sgt. 438 Njie, the accused persons were charged with robbery with actual violence and he, therefore, applied for the case to be transferred to the special criminal court, which has the jurisdiction to try the accused persons.

According to the charge sheet, on count one, on 7th August 2010 at Nemakunku Jola Kunda, the accused persons allegedly robbed one Lamin Kujabi of his cash amounting to D950 and a double SIM phone valued at D15, 000.

Count 2 revealed that on 7th August 2010 at Nemakunku Jola Kunda with the use of actual violence, the accused persons hit one Jawara Drammeh on his head.
