The Brikama Magistrates' Court presided over by Principal Magistrates Emmanuel Nkea recently heard a case of alleged criminal trespass and common assault brought against one Babucarr Sambou.

Testifying for the prosecution, Foday Sambou, the first prosecution witness, told the court that he lives at Jabang village, and that he knew the accused person.

He said it was raining on 14th July 2010, and that after the rain he went round to check for the empty barrels he placed behind the house, but could not find any.

Mr. Camara said he then made a statement that these bad boys, who used to smoke cannabis, are the ones that stole his barrels.

He said the accused person, who was passing at the time, insulted his mother and then entered into his compound raining abusive words on him.

It was then, he added, that his daughter, Kadija Camara, told the accused not to insult his father, adding that the accused went out and came back with a hose pipe.

The accused, he added, found Kadija Camara standing near the compound gate holding a child, and the accused then used the hose pipe to beat Kadija Camara.

He said the matter was reported at the Old Yundum Police Station, and the accused was subsequently arrested.

Hearing continues.
