A restaurant operator, Mariatou Gibba, recently testified in the trial of one Ebrima Ceesay, accused of assault causing grievous harm, before Magistrate Bojang of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Designated as the second prosecution witness (PW2), Ms Gibba told the court that she recognized the accused and could recall what happened on 9 November 2014.

On the day in question, she and her friend, Fatou Jagne, went to Wow Club and, while sitting opposite the said club, they saw the accused fighting with one man.

The accused took a bottle, and her friend told her to run for their safety, which they did.

According to her, the bottle which the accused threw landed on her friend’s face, as a result of which she lost four of her upper teeth and three of her lower teeth.

The boys who were around got hold of the accused, and took him to a security checkpoint and later to Kotu Police Station.

The case was adjourned to 19 January 2015, for continuation of the hearing.
