Remi Joiner, General Manager of Trust Bank Limited also received the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia’s award to people who have invaluably contributed to Gambian sport during its award held recently at the SunSwing Hotel in Kololi.
Born in Banjul, Remi Joiner attended Saint Augustine’s High School, before proceeding to the USA for further studies.
Remi’s name is synonymous with sport, having started at an early age as a sports presenter and football commentator over Radio Gambia, under the tutelage of Saul Njie and Bora Mboge.
Remi played basketball for Saints Basketball Club and the Banjul Central Basketball Zonal Team.
After his playing days, he continued to provide valuable support to sports promotion and development, especially among the youth.
He is a philanthropist in sport and other humanitarian ventures, providing assistance to many individuals.
He is among the founders of The Gough Foundation and is a member of various sporting committees, including the recent GFA Normalisation Committee set up by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and approved by FIFA.
