Red Hawks smash Interior to maintain 100% record in 2nd division

As Wallidan beat Blue Star to bounce back

Red Hawks on Thursday thrashed Interior 3-0 in the week-three fixtures played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium to keep their hundred percent record in the 2016-2017 Gambia Football Federation second league.

Wallidan have bounced back in contention to regain promotion to the top flight next season following their 2-0 win over Blue Star at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, after losing to Brufut United 1-0 in their two fixtures last week, courtesy of winger Almameh Ceesay alias Menteng.

Red Hawks made an astonishing start to the second tier campaign after beating BK Milan 3-0 and Waa Banjul 1-0 in their two opening league fixtures prior to their Thursday’s 3-0 win over security outfit  Interior to maintain their hundred percent record in the second tier.

Brufut United missed the chance to close gap on league leaders Red Hawks following their 1-1 draw with struggle side Serrekunda East Bi at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Bakau United poor run of form continued in the second division after their 1-1 draw with Young Africans at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda.

Elsewhere, Banjul United drew goalless with the newly-promoted side Waa Banjul in the all-Banjul derby fixtures at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.

Red Hawks are currently leading the 2016-2017 Gambia Football Federation second division league race with maximum 9 points in three league games after winning their three opening league fixtures.

Banjul United, Brufut United and Young Africans are with 5 points in three league fixtures after winning one and drew two and are also unbeaten in the second tier.

Waa Banjul, Interior and Wallidan are with 4 points in three league matches after winning one, drawing one and losing one in their second tier campaign.

Bakau United are with 2 points in three league games after drawing two and losing two in the second tier campaign, and Serrekunda East Bi are struggling in the second tier with a single point in three games after drawing one and losing two in their second tier campaign.
