The clash between Real De Banjul against GPA, which was postponed due to GPA's international outing on May 12, is now rescheduled for June 2nd at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium, says the Organising Committee of the Gambia Football Association.
This decision was taken by the committee after a thorough and constructive exchange of views, when it became clear that GFA Organising Committee (which comprised clubs representatives, including that of Read De Banjul) has the prerogative to cancel any match based on genuine reasons.
The committee pointed out that GPA FC, which was representing the football fraternity of The Gambia at an international event requested for the postponement of the said match, based on sound technical reasons.
The request was discussed and the decision to postpone the match was taken on 11 May 2010, eve of the scheduled date, thus from the meeting venue Real De Banjul officials (Sheriff and Pa Samba Mbenga) were promptly/officially informed about the postponement.
A letter, according to the FA, "was to follow the next morning 12th May 2010, but due to administrative bottlenecks, the said letter could not reach Real on time, resulting in some misunderstanding, consequent of which Real went to the field."
The committee further extends its apology to Real for the inconvenience caused.
