Real
De Banjul Football Club has supported Banjul City Council BBC in fight against
the spread of the Coronavirus with a donation of fifty thousand dalasis. The
club’s second vice-president Alhagie Bakary K. Jammeh said the support to BCC
is to create awareness campaign to stop the spread of the virus in the country.
“We
are here to support the Mayor and her council to tackle this pandemic,” said Bakary
Jammeh. Real De Banjul is the oldest club in the country and we deemed it
necessary to come and show solidarity with the council in these difficult
times.”
The
twelve-times Gambian champions lead the way in the current GFF division one
league with a six points margin after fourteen matches.
The
Mayor of Banjul Rohey Malick Lowe lauded Real De Banjul’s donation describing
it as historic. She called on the citizenry to follow the guidelines of the
World Health Organisation (WHO) and the ministry of Health against Covid19.
The
coronavirus has halted Real De Banjul’s season after the GFF postponed the
2019-2020 season; the city boys are bidding to win their first league title in
six seasons.
