Real De Banjul set to play Banjul United in GFF domestic league curtain-raiser

Current league champions Real De Banjul will clash with FA Cup champions Banjul United in an all-Banjul derby in the curtain-raiser for the country’s domestic league on Sunday 14 December 2014, at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.

The much-awaited game has been described by many football enthusiasts in Greater Banjul and environs as a crunch tie.

Real De Banjul clinched the 2013-2014 Gambian premier league title after a stunning performance in the championship to snatch their 12th league crown.

Banjul United snatched the 2013-2014 FA Cup title after beating Hawks 1-0 in an all-Banjul game played at the Independence Stadium.

Prolific striker Pa Omar Babou’s 87th minutes strike earned Banjul United their first-ever FA Cup title, since making their debut in the country’s domestic league in 2010.

The domestic league season curtain-raiser marks the beginning of the new football season in the country.
