A rash and negligent case involving one Pa Babucarr A.R. Njie continued recently at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Babucarr Secka.

Pa Babucarr A.R. Njie was alleged to have driven in a rash and negligent manner thereby caused the death of one Yunusa Bah, a police officer on 22 September 2010 in Lamin village.

Testifying for the prosecution, Sgt 521 Alasan Yaboe, a police officer attached to the New Yundum Police Station, told the court that on the day of the incident - 22 September 2010, he was on traffic duty at Lamin NTC together with CPL 250 Kujabi and 1st Class Sanyang.

He said while on duty on the aforementioned date, he saw the defendant on his vehicle coming from Serekunda and upon arrival at Lamin NTC, the defendant wanted to make a U-turn.

“During the process of him making a U-turn, he collided with the victim who was also coming from Serekunda with his motorbike and the victim rolled and rested on the other lane,” he explained.

Sgt 521 Yaboe further adduced that at the time of the incident, there was a fuel tank coming from the Brikama end, driven by one Momodou Jallow, who also wanted to turn to Mandinary and the wheel of the fuel tank truck driven by Jallow, rode on the victim’s chest.

He added that he took a stone and drew a circle and later lifted the victim, who was immediately taken to the Banjulinding Health Centre and later referred to the RVTH where he was pronounced dead.

Officer Yaboe further revealed that he later made a sketch plan and showed it to both drivers, who all confirmed and signed the sketch plan.
