PW3 testifies in assault case

The third prosecution witness (PW3), Omar Jatta, a police officer attached to Brikama Police Station, Tuesday testified in the trial of one Banjugu Keita before Magistrate Omar Cham of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

According to the particulars of offence, on 30 July 2014 at Jet 7 in Brikama Kombo Central district in the West Coast Region, the accused, Banjugu Keita, assaulted one Bubacarr Camara by stabbing him with a broken bottle all over his body, thereby causing him actual bodily harm.

In his testimony, officer Jatta said he recognised the accused person, Banjugu Keita and could recall what happened on 30 July 2014.

The complainant came to the Brikama Police Station and reported that one Banjugu Keita, the accused, stabbed him. The complainant was taken to the health centre for medical treatment and later referred to EFSTH.

The accused person was arrested, and cautionary and voluntary statements were taken from him in the presence of an independent witness, who thump-printed the statements.

The case was adjourned to 27 January 2015, for the accused to enter his defence.
