Sambou Danso, the first prosecution witness (PW1), testified recently in the trial of one Abubacarr Darboe who was charged with being in possession of suspected stolen property.

Testifying before Magistrate Nkea of the Brikama Magistrates' Court, PW1 told the court that, on 15th May 2010, at Madina Pipeline at around 2 am, he heard somebody broke into his house through the front door.

He switched on his touch light, and saw a motor bike parked beside his compound. He said he later saw the accused person carrying a bag, which he placed near his house, and then entered the compound opposite.

PW1 added that he confronted the accused, who told him that he came to accompany his girl friend, by the name Nyima Jarju. However, said Mr. Sambou, he told Mr. Darboe that there is no person by the name Nyima in that compound.

He said the accused was later apprehended, and during a searched they found a cock inside his bag.

Subsequently, he added, the accused was taken to Brikama police station.

The case continues.
