The magistrates' court in Bundung recently convicted and sentenced one Ousman Darboe, a resident of Fagikunda, to a fine of D5, 000 in default to serve 40 days in prison.
In delivering his judgment, Magistrate Lamin George stated that the accused person was arraigned, charged with assault causing actual bodily harm, to which he pleaded not guilty.
According to the magistrate, the prosecution in support of their case called two witnesses, whereas the defence called only one witness.
Subsequently, he added, the court found that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Magistrate Lamin George convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly.
