The
Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) at the weekend held a daylong
sensitisation on health and safety handling of sanitary materials for sewage
workers and sanitary truck drivers.

Amie Touray of PURA, in her remarks on the occasion, said the forum was held at
PURA offices at Kairaba Avenue to also help the participants to know the health
and safety guidelines regarding their works.
She
said the workshop is expected to increase the knowledge and understanding of
the sewerage workers and sanitary truck drivers on safety and hygiene.
Mrs
Touray said PURA is working on guidelines to set standards to ensure that
whatever is learned at the workshop is implemented.
The
workshop delved into various topics such as personal hygienic, health effect contamination,
sewage handling, environmental consequences, and sewage disposal among others.
