As Interior suffer yet another upset
PSV Wellingara on Friday beat Lamin United 1-0 in the all-West Coast Region derby clash played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium to snatch top spot in the 2015-2016 Gambia Football Federation second division.
The victory was PSV Wellingara’s second successive win in the second tier following their 1-0 win over Bakau United before their recent 1-0 win over second division strugglers Lamin United.
Interior’s hopes of regaining promotion back to the top flight next season have suffered yet another setback following their 1-0 defeat to Serrekunda East Bi at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
Elsewhere, Marimoo drew 1-1 with BK Milan at the Father Gough Sports in Manjai Kunda on the same day.
Blue Star beat Young Africans 1-0 at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium, while Tallinding United drew 1-1 with Brufut United at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
PSV Wellingara are leading the second tier standings with 6 points in two games; Marimoo, Tallinding United, Brufut United, Serrekunda East Bi and Lions of Banjul are occupying second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth spots with 4 points each in two games.
Bakau United are currently struggling in the second tier with a single point in one game following their goalless draw with Lions of Banjul at the weekend.
Interior and Lamin United are languishing second place from bottom and bottom place in the second tier with zero point each in two games after losing their two league opening fixtures.
