Profile of Gambia's youngest artiste

The Gambia's youngest artiste, commonly called Junior, was born in 2005. Junior, who started his music career in February 2010, said he was inspired by his elder brother Sheikh Cham (aka the Real Don) to take to music.

Sheikh Cham has been a source of encouragement to Junior, as he usually helps him in doing all his writings as well as accompanies him to studios to do his recordings.

So far Junior has recorded 5 singles; the singles are as follows: 'He is my Number 1', 'Time will Tell', 'Far away', 'Money', and 'One Continent'.

The Gambia's six-year-old artiste has attracted lot of music lovers not only in The Gambia but also around the world. Junior is considered by many music lovers as unique because he is the first Gambian artiste to start music at six.

Because of his thrilling performance and ingenuity, he has been a popular demand for most of the schools, to raise funds. So far the fund-raising shows he has had with schools have been rated as "very successful".

His latest performance with schools was staged at St. Peters Lower Basic School on March 4.

His manager has also revealed that most schools are making contacts for a second performance of the young lad due to popular demand by students.

Junior, who attends a primary school in his hometown in Lamin, is currently working with an international producer called Hakeem; although he has not been accepting radio and TV interviews because of the boy's tender age.
