President Yahya Jammeh will formally launch The Gambia for Gold, at the Kairaba Beach Hotel, tomorrow at 10:00a.m, as part of a fundraising campaign for the senior national team's participation to the 2014 World Cup, according to a press release.
When the Gambian leader received the FIFA World Cup at State House, he challenged all the Gambians to help bring the World Cup to The Gambia in 2014.
This is no small task which requires a lot of resources to adequately prepare Scorpions.
This is a venture that cannot be financed by the government or the Gambia Football Association alone.
Accordingly the Ministry of Youth and Sports has set up a fundraising drive called The Gambia for Gold, "it's our time," to raise the required funds over a four-year period.
The campaign is spearheaded by a fundraising committee with an active participation of the Ministry and the Gambia Football Association.
The committee is tasked with raising funds required for the participation of the Scorpions in the qualifiers for the CAN 2012 and the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, in 2014.
The committee is also charged to engage all Gambians and well-wishers home and abroad, particularly the private sector to take ownership of GAMBIA FOR GOLD, "it's our time" and to maximise publicity for the campaign.
The Ministry and members of the fundraising committee have the pleasure and honour to invite the members of the sporting fraternity and the corporate institutions at the ceremony.
