President Yahya Jammeh has donated a brand new 25 seater mini bus to the female Under 17 national football team, and one hundred thousand dalasi to each of the 21 players. He also gave fifty thousand to each of the seven members of the squad’s technical team.

The President made the donation when the female Scorpions called on him on Friday at State House to thank him for his continued support to them, and sports development in general.

The Gambian leader also pledged a monthly allowance of ten thousand dalasi to the coach, and five thousand for each player and support staff of the squad.

The Gambian leader offered the same package to both the male U17 and U20 football teams.

Addressing the teams, President Jammeh commended the female squad for their performance, and hoped that they will in future win a trophy.

He said the team’s qualification and participation in the World Cup finals held in Azerbaijan was in itself a great victory for The Gambia.

President Jammeh urged the Ministry of Youth and Sports to establish a strong national football association committed to the development of football.

Cabinet ministers Tenengba Jaiteh, Mass Axi Gai, Fatou Lamin Faye and Dr Njogu Bah praised the President for revitalizing football.

The minister of Youth and Sports Alieu K. Jammeh, the vice chairman of the GFA Normalization Committee Alhaji Omar Sey and the chairman of the Gambia for Gold Committee Tombong Saidy thanked the President for his support to the team during their campaign in Azerbaijan and other tournaments.
