A police officer attached to the Bundung Police Station yesterday testified in the murder trial involving one Mustapha Gaye of Latir Kunda.

Yaya Jatta, a driver, said while on duty on the 11th December 2007 at the Bundung Police Station, he was instructed by the station officer, S.O Dambelly, to accompany the accused to the place where the fighting took place between him (the Accused) and his friend, Ansumana Dampha, deceased. He told the court that upon arrival at the scene, he found the broken bottle allegedly used by the accused to stab his friend. He adduced that he took the broken bottle to the police station.

Mustapha Gaye is charged with the murder of his own friend, Ansumana Dampha, a charge he has completely denied.

However the defense counsel, Kebba Sanyang was indisposed for yesterday's sittings.

The case was adjourned to 16th February 2009 for Officer Jatta to continue his testimony.

Inspector Mballow is representing the Inspector-General as Prosecutor.
