Lamin S. Sarr, a police officer attached to Brusubi Police Station, recently testified in the trial involving one Anthony Gomez, who was charged with the offence of stealing and housebreaking, before Principal Magistrate Ibrahim Kijera of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court.
Designated as the fourth prosecution witness (PW4), officer Sarr said on 31 December 2013, he was in the charge office at Brusubi Police Station, when a case of housebreaking and stealing was reported by one Sulayman Darboe.
He said he and one detective officer went to the scene of the alleged crime and upon arrival at the scene, they realized that the slide window of the master bedroom was forcefully opened.
They returned to the station, and the complainant later came and informed them that he had recognised his stolen jacket with one boy who was a friend to the accused person, he said.
Officer Sarr further adduced that the said boy was confronted and arrested and the boy confessed that the said jacket was left in his house by the accused.
He said the complainant also complained of his digital camera and some cash that were also missing.
Under crossed-examination, the witness stated that he was not part of the arresting team of who arrested the accused, and he did not know where the accused was arrested by the arresting team.
The witness also stated under cross-examination that he had not seen the fan, adding that the sliding window was not a small window, it’s a window through which a flat screen could pass.
