Police officer testifies in drug case

Buba Faal, a police officer, yesterday testified at the Kanifing Magistrates’ court in a drug case involving one Modou Soury Kanteh, who was charged with being in possession of suspected drugs.

Officer Faal told the court that he is a police officer attached to Operation Bulldozer and he recognised the accused person.

He said that on 13 June 2012, he was on patrol around Sinchu Soury with a team and met with the accused at his shop, adding that they stopped the vehicle and entered the shop.

Officer Faal added that they identified themselves and the accused admitted that he is the owner of the shop.

He said they told the accused they wanted to conduct a search in his shop, which they did and one parcel and 21 grams of cannabis were found under the counter of the shop.

He also said the accused was arrested and taken to the Operation Bulldozer base and a statement was obtained from him.

The case is adjourned till 28 August 2012.
