Ismail Ngum, alleged police assailant on 23rd December 2008 appeared before Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court charged with assault and going armed in public.
According to the particulars of the offence, on 29th October 2008, at Hanover in Serekunda, the accused unlawfully assaulted Inspector Kalilu Sanneh by hitting him with a cutlass on his hand thereby causing him pain.
On count two, the alleged offence revealed that on the same day the accused was found with a cutlass without authority. He denied all the charges.
He was remanded in custody until 6th January 2009.
