Some philanthropists from the United Kingdom through their Gambian friend recently donated a large consignment of used clothes to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society.

Francis Sambou, a hotelier and friend of Wiggan and Barbra Wilson (the two philanthropists) said his two friends hailed from Jamaica, but live in the UK.

"We are now family members and they have been sending things now for almost five years," he said.

"Mr. and Mrs. Wilson visited my house and saw children running from the other compound to mine. They admired the children and decided to help them. Since then, they send clothes every three months."

According to Rev. Fr. Tony Sonko, the Parish Priest of Saint Therese's Parish, the Saint Vincent de Paul Society are responsible for the poor in society, better still the down trodden.

Francis Sambou said his friends are ready to send so as to help others. He then handed over two barrels of clothes to the team that was present.

"This is the beginning of the collaboration with Saint Vincent de Paul Society of The Gambia, (SVP)"
